black mountain pot

A few weeks ago I made this double opening black mountain vase for the upcoming ‘Stepping Up’ exhibition to be held in Canberra during the Australian Ceramics Association Ceramic Triennial. This was the first time I had used Clayworks stoneware terracotta and unfortunately a small crack appeared after its second firing. This shot is while it is still wet and unfired.

So I have started on another pot. This time in my usual white porcelain stoneware Clayworks JB3. The piece can be no bigger than 15cm x 15cm, so I hope it shrinks a bit, as it is 18cm high at the moment.10957217_1541025806146924_133912877_n

After making the form I painted on black underglaze. I then inscribed the mountains using a wire loop tool. I really like this piece and hope it fires well. Fingers crossed.1208344_828058057231577_1022115723_n
